Application: High Tide
Package name: com.hightide
Publisher: Ukulele Wave

This Privacy Policy explains how the App processes personal data. This policy complements the Terms of Use.

1. Introduction

This policy explains how the High Tide mobile app manages your data, with a light spirit like the sea! We do not store personal data on our own servers.

2. Data collected

According to the "Data Safety" section on Google Play, the App may process:

  • Location: approximate, real-time only.
  • In-app activity: basic interaction events for app functionality and measurement (where enabled).
  • Technical information: diagnostics via Firebase.
  • Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob.

If you contact us, we process the information you submit to respond to your request.

3. Legal basis for processing

In accordance with Article 6 of the GDPR, the processing of your data is based on:

  • Your consent: for the optional activation of geolocation (revocable via Android settings) and ad personalization (AdMob).
  • Our legitimate interest: for aggregated or pseudonymous analytics via Firebase (where enabled) in order to improve the App.
  • Performance of the contract: to provide the essential features of the app, such as tide and weather forecasts in real time.

4. Data shared

We do not sell your personal data.

The App does not share your precise location or your device IP address with our weather data providers. Weather/sea data requests are proxied through our server. The App may share data with:

  • Google AdMob: to display ads (AD_ID, measurement and analytics data).
  • Google Firebase: to analyze performance (analytics/diagnostic data).

These shares fund the App. See Google’s policies for more details.

5. Purposes of use

  • Provide forecasts of tides, currents, weather, and other real-time data.
  • Improve the App through measurement and analytics data (Firebase).
  • Display personalized ads (AdMob, according to your settings).
  • Manage purchases/subscriptions via Google Play.

6. Security and retention

All communications are encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We do not persistently store personal data on our own servers. Our server may process your IP address briefly to approximate your location (e.g., to select nearby stations) when you do not enable device location; this IP address is not stored by us.

Data collected via Google services (e.g., AdMob/Firebase) is retained according to Google’s retention settings and policies.

Some information may be stored locally on your device (e.g., preferences or selected stations) and can be removed by clearing the App data or uninstalling.

Only contact emails (if you write to us) are kept for the time needed to respond, then deleted, unless you request otherwise.

7. Your choices and controls

  • Disable location in Android settings; the App will work with manual input.
  • Reset or disable the AD_ID in Google/Android settings.
  • Manage/cancel your subscriptions via Google Play.
  • Uninstall the App to stop any collection.

For contact emails, you can request their deletion via the contact form.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, or object to certain processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Where applicable, you may withdraw your consent at any time (e.g., via device settings). Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal. If you contact us, you may request a copy of the information you submitted.

8. Third-party services

The App uses weather APIs (e.g., World Weather Online, Stormglass.io) through our server proxy, and Google services (AdMob, Firebase). Our weather data providers receive requests from our server and do not receive your device IP address or precise location.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country, including outside the EEA. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards under applicable data protection laws.

9. Children’s protection

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the contact form or through Google services used by the App (e.g., AdMob/Firebase), contact us so we can assist and take appropriate steps.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on our website with a new “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (e.g., in-app notice) where required by law.

11. Contact

Data controller: Ukulele Wave (publisher of the App).

Contact: contact form.

For privacy requests, we can only act on data we control (e.g., contact messages). For data processed by Google services (AdMob/Firebase), please use Google’s controls and refer to their privacy policies.
